Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne will feature on one of two new songs being released on a deluxe edition of Arcade Fire‘s recent studio album ‘The Suburbs‘.

Byrne has laid down backing vocals on the track ‘Speaking In Tongues‘, set to appear alongside ‘Culture War‘, a new version of previous album track ‘Wasted Hours‘, now re-named ‘Wasted Hours (A Life That We Can Live)‘, a documentary telling the story of the making of the record, and the short film ‘Scenes From The Suburbs’.

Since its release in August 2010, ‘The Suburbs’ has been something of a commercial breakthrough for Arcade Fire, landing at the top spot on both sides of the Atlantic, and in the process picking up the Best Album prize at the 53rd Grammy Awards, and Best International Album at last February’s Brit Awards.

The new tracks will receive their premiere on Radio 1 on May 23rd, with the album’s re-release following on June 27th.
