Brian Wilson ‘Considering Retiring From Touring’

Brian Wilson has hinted he could retire from touring following the completion of his London Royal Festival Hall dates this September, reports the London Evening Standard.

The paper quotes Wilson as saying life on the road is ‘very hard work’, while he also revealed he still suffers from the stage fright and anxiety which afflicted him during The Beach Boys‘ heyday.

“I’m always afraid just before I go on stage because I’m not sure how the concert’s going to work,” Wilson says. “As I get older it gets harder for me. But when I’m sitting down at the keyboard and my band’s behind me, I can do it.”

On whether he has considered retirement, Wilson remarks: “Oh God yes. Another year, maybe. This could be the last time I play here. I’m going to miss it but I’m getting a little bit old for touring.”

Wilson is set for a three-date residency at the Royal Festival Hall from September 16th, when he will perform tracks from ‘Smile‘ and ‘Pet Sounds‘, as well as the recent ‘Brian Wilson Re-imagines Gershwin‘.
