Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder To Pen Autobiography

ryderIn the wake of the recent publication of Keith Richards‘ long-awaited autobiography, the Happy Mondays‘ frontman Shaun Ryder, who himself has pushed rock n roll excess to its limits, has confirmed his own plans to release the story of his eventful life.

In a statement released today, Ryder explained his reasons for finally deciding to pen his memoirs, explaining that the timing has never felt right until now.

“I’ve been mithered for years to write my autobiography, but I’ve always said no because the timing never felt right,” he said. “Plenty of other people have had their say on Happy Mondays and Black Grape, and now just felt like the right time to tell it like it really happened.”

Publishers Transworld also released their own thoughts on the decision, with editorial editor Sarah Emsley describing Ryder as a ‘living legend’: “Shaun Ryder is a living legend and his is one of the great untold stories of a life lived through the highs and lows of rock ‘n’ roll excess. We are absolutely thrilled to be publishing the raw, undiluted autobiography of one of the UK’s most beloved rock stars”

The timing of the release could well be linked to Shaun Ryder’s recent high profile appearance on the UK’s popular I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here series, which exposed the former Black Grape singer to a new demographic when it aired late last year.
