Bonehead: Oasis Split Good For Music Industry

5040 boneheadFormer Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs believes his old band’s 2009 split will have a positive impact on the music industry in the long term as brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher launch their separate careers.

Bonehead left Oasis in 1999 during the recording of their fourth studio album ‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants‘, and was replaced by Gem Archer, who subsequently formed Beady Eye together with Liam, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock.

Now, Bonehead has told the Daily Record newspaper that new venture, coupled with Noel Gallagher’s impending solo career, will boost a stale music scene.

“I was glad because Liam would go to the right, Noel would go to the left and the music industry needs both doing their own things,” he said. “It’s going to be good for music.”

Later, Bonehead also revealed he would be happy to reunite with the Gallagher brothers on stage, denying rumours a bust up with Noel in France, a scenario which would be echoed a decade later, led to his departure.

“I’d play with them for a charity gig, of course,” he disclosed. “We never fell out. People thought we had a dramatic fall-out and a fight but we never.”

Beady Eye released their debut album ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding‘ last month, while rumours continue to persist of a summer issue for Noel Gallagher’s first solo record.
