New Arctic Monkeys Album This Spring?

arctic monkeysArctic Monkeys have begun work on a new album with acclaimed Klaxons producer James Ford, and hope to have the record released sometime this year, reports NME.

According to the publication, Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Jamie Cook and Nick O’Malley reconvened in the studio late last year in London, and are now continuing sessions in Los Angeles. If all goes to plan, the band are said to be aiming for a release no later than late Spring.

The new album will be the follow up to 2009’s ‘Humbug‘, which continued the band’s move towards a rawer, heavily Queens Of The Stone Age influenced sound which has progressed since the release of their hugely successful 2006 debut ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not‘.

The news of a potential LP release adds to an already expanding schedule for the group this year, with appearances at Ireland’s Oxegen Festival and Spain’s Benicàssim event pencilled in this summer.
