Velvet Revolver have been successful in their search for a new lead singer, according to the band’s drummer Matt Sorum.

The rock band have been searching for a new singer following the departure of Stone Temple PilotsScott Leiland. In October, Slash revealed the group had begun their hunt, and Sorum has now confirmed they have made their choice, but would not reveal the identity of the new member.

He told The Pulse of Radio: “We can’t make the announcement yet because we’re ‘dating’, you know. “We haven’t consummated the relationship, we haven’t sat down this gentleman and made the agreement together.”

Later, Sorum also apologised to fans who have been waiting for new Velvet material for over three years. “I know it’s been like this long-winded, ‘Oh, Velvet Revolver this, Velvet Revolver that’,” he said. “We’re tired of it, believe me. But we don’t have the ability to just jump out there with any singer. We can’t do it.”

Velvet Revolver released their first album ‘Contraband‘ in 2004, which debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200. ‘Libertad‘ followed in July 2007 after which vocalist Scott Weiland announced his departure from the group
