R.E.M have announced the tracklisting of their forthcoming new album ‘Collapse Into Now‘ via a newsletter sent out to the band’s mailing list subscribers, reports slicingupeyeballs.com.
The album, R.E.M’s first since 2008’s ‘Accelerate‘, has been produced by Jacknife Lee and is to feature appearances by a series of guests including Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and punk pioneer Patti Smith, news first confirmed by the band’s bassist Mike Mills earlier this month.
Mills made the admission during an interview with Spin, in which he outlined R.E.M’s plans for a more expansive album this time round: “We wanted to put more variety into it and not limit ourselves to any one type of song. There are some really slow, beautiful songs; there are some nice, mid-tempo ones; and then there are three or four rockers.”
