Mani, Liam Gallagher Latest Musicians To Lend Their Support To 100 Club

mani_1The ever-growing list of musicians and bands moving to voice their concerns over the ongoing financial troubles currently threatening London’s iconic 100 Club has had two Manchester legends added to it today.

Primal Scream and former Stone Roses bassist Mani has said the problems reflect the UK’s manner of dealing with it’s musical heritage. “This country has got a very bad reputation for pissing on it’s history musically. There should be a blue plaque put up and it should be saved,” he claimed.

“It’s probably been the spring-board for a lot of people’s careers and you’ve got to cherish things that are yours in this life. You can’t let it go – what and end up with a bloody Starbucks there? Get outta town.”

Meanwhile, Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher has delivered a hand-written note to organisers of Save the 100 Club, in which he says he would like to bring his new band to the venue. “It’s a real shame,” he wrote. “Fancied playing there again with the mighty Beady Eye.”

Due to mounting debts thanks to escalating rent and business rates, the 100 Club’s owner Jeff Horton revealed in September the club could close by the end of the year.
