Biffy Clyro Already Begun Work On Follow Up To ‘Only Revolutions’

biffyAfter the runaway success of their fifth studio album ‘Only Revolutions‘, which culminated in a much sought after Mercury Music prize nomination, you might forgive Biffy Clyro for kicking back and enjoying the fruits of their achievements over the past twelve months. However, frontman Simon Neil has told XFM the band are keen to maintain their recent momentum and have already begun work on new material.

Neil told the station the band have a ‘dozen new songs’ ready to be worked on, and unsurprisingly are feeling exhilarated as they head into 2011. “Believe it or not we had three days off last week and we’ve already cracked on,” he said. “We’ve got about a dozen new songs so it was really exhilarating last week. Some of the songs we think are excellent so Christmas time we’ll hopefully do some more and really start building and sculpting.”

Back in August, the band’s bass player James Johnston told the Daily Record newspaper of the added pressure being felt after their accomplishments this year. “I think there is pressure on us because of the success of ‘Only Revolutions‘,” he admitted. “But we will only truly find out when we sit down to write and record.”

The news seems to suggest Biffy Clyro will have new material ready to be aired when they support Foo Fighters at Milton Keynes Bowl next July.
