Mumford & Sons Enjoy US Chart Success

sighnomoreMumford & Sons will be celebrating this week after their debut album ‘Sigh No More‘ broke into the US Top 20 for the first time since it’s release State-side in February.

The album has already enjoyed huge success in Europe, peaking at #4 in the UK, and has been a regular feature in the top 10 since. It has also peaked at number one on the charts in Ireland and Australia. Now, the momentum appears to be transferring to America, with the album scoring it’s highest placing on the US chart to date following a fruitful US tour and a string of TV appearances.

Despite some negative reviews, the record has been generally well-received by critics, with one describing it as inspiring “evangelism through sheer force of will,” before adding: “Between Mumford’s gripping wail and the Sons whirlwind revelries, it’s a revival hard to resist. It’s not a flawless record, but it does a damn good job of making you look the other way.” In addition, ‘Sigh No More‘ was nominated for this year’s coveted Mercury Music Prize, losing out to The xx’s self-titled debut.

After a series of dates in Europe, Mumford & Sons are due to return to the UK next month for a sold out tour.
