Has Axl Rose Cancelled All Guns n Roses UK Shows?

Confusion surrounds Guns n Roses future plans today after Axl Rose apparently used Twitter to announce the cancellation of all of the band’s forthcoming UK dates.

Axl and co are due to begin a run of UK dates shortly, including a scheduled headline appearance at the Reading/Leeds festivals, but those shows now appear to be in doubt following the sudden message on Twitter.

The post appeared on Axl Rose’s account yesterday afternoon, saying: “All upcoming Guns N’ Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds.”

There are early suggestions that the message maybe due to Rose’s account being hacked, as the band’s official website has yet to confirm the news, while the Guns n Roses official Twitter page have said they are “looking into” the post.

If genuine, the news will mean the Reading/Leeds festivals organisers will be forced to search for a replacement just a few weeks before the dual events, one of the biggest in the UK’s summer festival season, are due to get under way. A spokesperson for the Reading/Leeds festivals has said they are also looking into the validity of the post and will begin the search for a replacement if the message is found to be genuine.

As well as their festival shows, Guns n Roses are also due to hit a number of UK arenas in October, including dates in Manchester and Birmingham.

Update:

“Festival Republic are informed by GN’R management that Guns N’ Roses have NOT canceled their performances at Reading & Leeds and that Axl Rose’s Twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded,” said a Festival Republic statement today (Aug. 16).
