New Snow Patrol LP Out Next Year

snow_patrolSnow Patrol have revealed they will be returning next year with the follow-up to 2008’s ‘A Hundred Million Suns‘.

In an interview with Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper, drummer Jonny Quinn said they may be looking at a summer release. “Definitely next year, at what point we don’t know,” he stated. “It will be after February and before July. We’re going to record new material in October.”

Quinn also spoke of the inspiration for their new material, saying the great outdoors is playing a part in the group’s new work: “These days, it’s better to be out somewhere in the open, by the sea. I live by the sea in Ireland and I find that’s the most inspiring time, sitting with a guitar on the beach, but we write on the tour bus, in dressing rooms, in the studio and in phone boxes, because no one is using them because everyone has mobile phones.”

After releasing their first two studio albums in 1998 and 2001 respectively, Snow Patrol gained their first real success in 2003 with the release of ‘Final Straw‘, and later achieved a huge commercial breakthorugh with the release of the 2006 follow-up ‘Eyes Open‘, which contained the huge hit ‘Chasing Cars‘.
