Artists including rapper Mos Def, Specials legend Jerry Dammers and Devendra Banhart are to head up a new stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, it’s organiser Michael Eavis announced today.

Called the ‘West Holts‘ stage it will be held instead of the Jazz World stage, which has been replaced to highlight the history of the site at Worthy Farm. “We’re going back to the real roots of Worthy Farm and its history with the name change for the stage,” Eavis told GlastonburyFestivals.co.uk. “West Holts was a ‘halt’ originally; one of the two places where we had to open the level crossing gates across the old railway line to get the cattle through for milking. It was a fair walk up to the farm, just as it is now, and those cows took some driving!”

Rock heavyweights U2 and Muse are set to headline this year’s Pyramid Stage, along with Motown legend Stevie Wonder.
