The Prodigy To Headline 2010 Bestival

prodigy_thumbDance-rockers The Prodigy will headline this year’s Bestival, it was confirmed today.

The group will be last on at the event, which will take place on the Isle of Wight between September 9th and 12th. Prodigy join a list of confirmed eclectic acts that includes Roxy Music, LCD Soundsystem, The Flaming Lips and Dizzee Rascal. BBC DJ Zane Lowe and singer Roux are also set to play DJ sets.

Speaking about the booking, organiser Rob Da Bank said: “Since raving as a young pup to ‘Charly’ and ‘Out Of Space’ through to caning their new record on my radio show, The Prodigy have been a massive part of my record collection. As far as polishing off the party on Sunday night, I can’t think of a more explosive finale and it’s going to be the last we’ll see of them for quite a while on our shores – so get in the queue now!”

The festival was launched in the summer of 2004 by Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank and is an extension of his Sunday Best record label and club nights. It hosted around 10,000 people in it’s first year and has since grown to accommodate over 40,000. Fatboy Slim topped the bill in it’s debut year, and it has subsequently been headlined by the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Primal Scream and Elbow.
