Chris Martin has revealed he expects Coldplay to release a new album this year.

Speaking to Globo.com, Martin discussed the measures being taken to prevent the tracks, thought to be being recorded in London with Brian Eno, from leaking on the internet. “There’s only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files,” he said. “Even we don’t know how to do it. We couldn’t even steal our own music at the moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it.”

The album will be the band’s first since their 2008 album ‘Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends’, which went no.1 around the world and has currently sold over 9 million copies.

Frontman Chris Martin has also dismissed rumours that the record will not be their last on EMI: “I think we have about 500 more,” he joked. “No, seriously, we signed for a lot.”

According to Martin, the record will be released around Christmas 2010.
