Going Down – Mr Tyler?

As if falling from the stage recently weren’t enough physical pain for rock veteran Steven Tyler, new word has come out that he might take a more permanent tumble …. out of the band Aerosmith that is.

This shocker comes after reports have surfaced that the rest of the band is fed up with Steven’s solo career and Tyler “branding” of the group. They’ll now either chose between a “long hiatus” or a new lead singer.

Aerosmiths 40th anniversary is just around the corner and after a short break for rehabbing his injuries from his stage fall in August , Tyler returned to the band in October and played huge concerts in Hawaii and Abu Dhabi. Joe Perry actually went as far as to describe the Abu Dhabi gig as “one of the best shows of the year”, but Tyler wasn’t feeling quite the same in a post-gig interview with Classic Rock magazine. “I don’t know what I’m doing [next], but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler, working on the brand of myself – Brand Tyler.”

Classic Rock further reports that the band is planning a meeting without Tyler to discuss “either the announcement of a long hiatus or carrying on with a new lead vocalist”. “It would largely depend on who we could get and who would want to do it,” added rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford. “[They are] big shoes to fill. Nobody could replace Steven or imitate him – he’s one of a kind. But if somebody was willing to do it and the chemistry was right, why not?”

It’s said the the stars dressing room is far away fro the rest of the bands’ and that,  apart from the on stage time, the band does not see Steven anymore . “All I know is [Steven’s] got to get his act together,” Perry told Associated Press. “He and I haven’t written a song together in over 10 years, so there’s been some changes in what Aerosmith is.”
