Weird Nightmare by Colin Medley
Weird Nightmare will tour North America, the UK and Europe this year.
METZ frontman Alex Edkins has announced the release of his new Weird Nightmare album Hoopla on May 1st.
Co-produced with Jim Eno in Providence, Rhode Island, the LP is being previewed now with its lead single Might See You There, all about the nostalgia that can only come from a visit to your hometown.
“Small-town boredom and isolation almost feel like a gift in today’s highly connected world,” Edkins said.
I feel fortunate for that time spent idly, down in the basement, learning the entire Rancid Let’s Go album on guitar with my friends. I find it easy to romanticise that time in my life, even though I was, without question, a disgruntled kid who badly wanted to escape my surroundings and see the world.
“I was listening to a lot of the Irish bands The Undertones and Protex while writing this one, and I think there is a fair bit of their influence. Just the simplicity and big bar chords mostly.”

Hoopla tracklist:
Headful of Rain
Might See You There
Baby Don’t
Forever Elsewhere
Never in Style
Pay No Mind
If You Should Turn Away
Little Strange
Bright City Lights (ft. Julianna Riolino)
