Black Sabbath‘s final ever show will be held in their hometown Birmingham.
Seven arena dates in total have been arranged as the final round of their ‘The End’ tour, and thus the final chapter of one of Britain’s most influential rock bands.
The shows do though at least take Black Sabbath into another year, starting on January 22nd 2017 in Manchester. Further arena gigs in Glasgow, Leeds and London follow before it all wraps up with two nights at the Genting Arena in Birmingham.
The band returned with Ozzy Osbourne three years ago now with ‘13‘, and had been planning a last ever studio album too before Osbourne told Nola.com that they had instead decided to ‘opt out’.
“In December, I’ll be 68 and I think it’s time to call it the end of the day,” he said. “I’m not saying I won’t get on stage with Geezer or Tony or any of them some time, but officially we’re going to be done.”
“I don’t want it to dwindle and dwindle and play just for the sake of making another sack full of cash. So it’s time, and then I’ll go back to doing my own thing.”
