The Walkmen have announced five UK dates this year in support of their impending seventh studio album ‘Heaven‘.
The tour will kick off at the Birmingham HMV Institute on October 27th, moving on to Glasgow’s ABC venue (28th), Dublin Vicar Street (29th) and the Manchester HMV Ritz (30th). The first and final date in November will arrive on the 1st at the London HMV Forum.
‘Heaven’ is due for release on June 4th and has been produced by The Shins and Fleet Foxes cohort Phil Ek; speaking to Paste recently, The Walkmen’s organist Peter Bauer praised the impact of their new producer on the recording sessions.
“He wouldn’t let us get away with our usual garbage we normally do in terms of playing off beat and half-assing it,” he explained. “He was making us do things again and again until they were right, which I thought was really annoying at first. But it was really great at the end. You do hear the difference. Most of the recording we had never done, but everyone was playing live and what you get is what you get, and this was much more.”
