The Jam are to release a new, deluxe version of their classic 1980 album ‘Sound Affects‘ to celebrate it’s 30th anniversary, and will include a newly unearthed cover of The Kinks‘ classic single ‘Waterloo Sunset‘ with the package.
Due to be released on November 1st, the re-issue is to include eight previously unheard demos, and will coincide with two US dates by the legendary band’s former frontman Paul Weller at L.A’s Wiltern Theatre on November 3rd and at New York’s Nokia Theatre on the 7th.
The Jam’s fifth studio album, ‘Sound Affects‘ helped to cement Paul Weller’s reputation as one of the most talented songwriters of his generation, and featured a clutch of classic tracks including ‘That’s Entertainment‘, ‘But I’m Different Now‘, ‘Pretty Green‘ and ‘Set The House Ablaze‘. In addition, other highlights such as ‘Monday’ and ‘Boy About Town’ showcased Weller’s move away from traditional rock n roll which would become more apparent on The Jam’s final album ‘The Gift‘, and subsequently with Weller’s next band The Style Council as jazz, soul and other new genres began to dominate his work.
The deluxe version’s booklet will also include a new interview with Weller, along with rare photos and memorabilia.
