The Cure will be at Primavera Sound next June.
The Cure, Doja Cat, The xx, Gorillaz and Massive Attack are leading the line-up announcement for Primavera Sound 2026 in Barcelona.
They’re joined by the likes of Peggy Gou, Lola Young, Little Simz, Big Thief and Slowdive, this news bringing the latest big live show for Robert Smith after the release of his band’s Songs Of A Lost World album last year.
“A tantalising selection of the new material was premiered during those classic, 3-and-a-half-hour shows which were a source of so much shared joy; every one began with Alone, the opening song here which flows inexorably like a tide until around the 5 minute mark when Robert Smith finally tips over the waterfall’s edge with, ‘This is the end of every song what we sing’,” Live4ever’s review reads.
“A cornerstone, this was the track which when finished Smith knew the whole album would ultimately be completed.”
Inspired by a Victorian poem written by Ernest Dowson, its layered, glistery atmospheres recall the Cocteau Twins’ gift for evocation, whilst its inescapable, almost suffocating bleakness contemplates end times and looking across the face of an existence which is fast ceasing to retain any meaning.
