20 years on from their gig at Morfa Stadium, the Stereophonics will return to Swansea for a gig at Singleton Park on July 13th, 2019.
The gig at the city’s athletics venue in the July of 1999 played host to 50,000 fans as the band moved into British rock’s big league with the success of their second studio album Performance & Cocktails.
It was an album which, like much of Stereophonics’ output, defied critics’ opinion by topping the UK album charts and delivering numerous hit singles such as The Bartender & The Thief, Just Looking and Pick A Part That’s New.
And it’s a period in their history now tinged with extra poignancy after the passing of drummer Stuart Cable in 2010 – something already reflected on by the band on their recent Scream Above The Sounds track Before Anyone Knew Our Name. Kelly Jones said of it:
