What began over three years ago with a 30th anniversary career spanning box-set and tour dates celebrating their classic debut ‘Psychocandy‘ is still going strong on this The Jesus & Mary Chain‘s latest round of gigs in the UK.

Plans for a new album have also been put in place since the anniversary touring began, Jim Reid telling NME in February 2015 that, “We’ve got the material, we’ve talked about doing an album for so long now.”
“We are kind of coming round to being in agreement, which is a bit weird for us. There will be an album — we will get it together. I’m more convinced now than I ever have been that there will be a new Mary Chain album.”
He gave another update last October, confirming to Time Out that recording had started:
“We’re doing an album now,” he said. “We actually just started recording. It’s early days, but I would say it’s a more mature sound for the Mary Chain. But let’s just wait and see.”
