A musical looking at the early life of Ray Davies and the origins of The Kinks is to open in London next year according to BBC News.
The BBC claims Sunny Afternoon is being written by Joe Penhall with a view to opening at the Hampstead Theatre at some point in 2014. It would appear many of The Kinks’ best loved hits are going to be included, though details of the cast and how big a role Davies will play in the musical are yet to be confirmed.
There’s just a chance the musical could be coming to London around the same time The Kinks are making a full blown return after both Davies brothers hinted at reconciliation during the summer just gone.
Dave Davies initially spoke of positive meetings between himself and brother Ray during an interview with Rolling Stone in September, while Ray then told BBC Breakfast he would be interested in a reunion for the classic British band ‘as long as there’s something new to go forward with’.
