Marika Hackman has announced UK shows at the Deaf Institute in Manchester and Heaven in London during the spring just before the release of her second studio album.
The gigs will take place on Wednesday, May 31st (Manchester) and Thursday, June 1st (London) with I’m Not Your Man then due on June 2nd. Hackman’s successor to We Slept At Last will be the sound of her indulging in a ‘teenage fantasy of fronting a raucous band’. “I wanted to let rip and lose control,” she’s said.
“That’s the kind of music I’ve always wanted to make. When I was younger I wasn’t looking at Joni Mitchell. I was looking at Nirvana thinking, ‘I wanna be like that!’”
The Big Moon acted as backing band on various tracks in the studio; “They really captured the soul of what it all meant to me and brought a lot of fun and creativity,” Hackman added.
