Los Campesinos! have made a new track available as a free download from their official website.
‘Tiptoe Through The True Bits‘ was recorded during the sessions which resulted in their 2011 album ‘Hello Sadness‘, but does not feature on the record.
Speaking to NME, singer Gareth explained the song didn’t make the cut for their fourth studio effort because they were aiming for a much shorter LP than previous releases, and also revealed their decision to release it as a free download was made because he believes ‘there is no point in bands like us releasing singles’.
“We wanted to make a much shorter album, this record has 10 tracks rather than the 15 of our previous album,” he said. “It also means we can release this and remind people about the album when they’ve probably forgotten about it.”
“There’s no point in bands like us releasing singles. Nobody buys singles from bands like us any more. We thought about doing something for Record Store Day, but it’s such a whirlwind of releases and it’s easy to get lost. We’ve always given things away and I think people appreciate it. We could have put it up on iTunes, but we’d never have seen any money from it.”
