Kasabian are crying a conspiracy against rock and roll after not receiving any nominations for next month’s Brit Awards.
“It’s a conspiracy,” guitarist Serge Pizzorno has told The Independent. “They’re trying to shut rock n’ roll out. What sort of message does that send to working class rock n’ roll bands which the industry is in dire need of?”
“Kasabian couldn’t have done any more last year. It’s bullshit really. It’s way more exciting to be playing the Baftas than the Brits,” he continued, referencing the fact that the band will instead open the Baftas at London’s Royal Opera House.
Kasabian might have been hoping for a mention in the British Group section, but nominations went to Coldplay, Alt-J, One Direction, Clean Bandit and Royal Blood, while British Album Of The Year will be contested again by Alt-J and Royal Blood, as well as Sam Smith, George Ezra and the almost certain winner Ed Sheeran.
The ceremony takes place at the O2 Arena in London on February 25th.
