Daft Punk have called it a day after over two decades.
The music world has been hailing the influence of Daft Punk after the electronic dance duo confirmed yesterday that they have parted ways.
Amongst the many reflecting on Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s career together were Mark Ronson, who called their legacy ‘flawless’, and DJ Zane Lowe, who wrote on social media:
“I guess we’re going to have to figure it out for ourselves from now on.”
“I remember how those gorgeous French robots got lucky and locked us out of heaven all night at the 2013 Grammys,” Ronson said. “I couldn’t even be mad for 3 minutes.”
Daft Punk released their debut album Homework in 1997, bringing with it immediate signature hits in Da Funk and Around The World.
The new millennium dawned with Discovery and more cross-genre anthems, while what has proved to be their last studio album, 2013’s Random Access Memories, was a massive commercial success off the back one of the biggest singles of recent times, their Get Lucky collaboration with Pharrell Williams.
