Claudia Fenoglio by Nell Tobiasz
WHO?
I’m Claudia Fenoglio, an indie pop artist.
WHERE?
I’m originally from Cheshire but living in Leeds.
WHEN?
I started playing guitar in primary school. My dad was in bands growing up so definitely influenced me to choose to play! Having family in Nashville also extended my love for songwriting and guitar music, and I started writing my own songs when I was in uni. It was a good escape and I could get out all my feelings!
WHY?
I love how music makes me feel. I feel confident on stage and when I’m writing and recording. I’m normally anxious about everything but not music lol. It’s also good to have an outlet where you feel like people are listening to what you have to say, it’s quite a privilege too.
PAST?
I released my first EP two years ago and since then I’ve just been writing more and gigging. I played my first gig in the States last year which was so cool! I also started playing more with my band last year which has been so fun – I much prefer it to being up on my own out there.
PRESENT?
Dreamy indie pop that makes you think reflect on all your life choices x.
FUTURE?
Marrying rich so I can keep writing my nice little tunes for the rest of my life.
HOW?
I wrote Julia on my guitar at home and then took it to my producer Tim at his studio called The Green Room! Sam Newham played drums and Tom Sargent played bass, and then Amy Illingworth recorded some BVs which sound loooovely.
DID YOU KNOW?
I don’t know anyone called Julia.
WHAT’S NEXT?
More tunes! Can’t say too much but lots more music coming! I’m also playing in Brighton for the first time at The Great Escape and supporting lilo in Leeds in April.
