New album, London gig for Spiritualized on ‘Ladies and Gentlemen…’ 20th anniversary

A new Spiritualized album will be released next year in part to help mark the 20th anniversary of ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space‘.

“It’s the 20th anniversary next year, so we figured we should be playing a celebratory concert to coincide,” Jason Pierce says. “Fortunately the new album is also due next year, 20 years to the day since ‘Ladies and Gentlemen…'”

The gig he refers to takes place at the Barbican in London on November 7th, a 15-piece orchestra and gospel choir helping to do such a great record, which is to be played in full, justice.

“So as they don’t compete, we decided to run an anniversary show this year and leave some clear space for the new album,” Pierce continues.

“I just didn’t want to pass on the opportunity to perform ‘Ladies and Gentlemen…’ live again. It’s such a massive and detailed piece of music to play, and is still as demanding and relevant to me as it was on its release.”
