Organisers of London’s Calling festival have insisted the event will go ahead as planned next year despite losing the support of long-term sponsors Hard Rock.
Live Nation moved one of their flagship summer events to the capital’s Olympic complex for its 2013 leg after disputes with local councillors and residents eventually took their favoured Hyde Park location out of the equation.
Bruce Springsteen returned for a second headline appearance in as many years, and was joined at the top of the bill by Kasabian.
“Following record ticket-demand and audience numbers at festivals this year, Live Nation is exploring new sponsorship partnerships for its highly successful ‘Calling’ franchise,” a spokesperson has told NME.
“After six years of rising ticket sales for ‘Hard Rock Calling’, Live Nation intends to build on this popular rock-festival event. Further details about venues and timings for 2014 events will be made in due course.”
The festival launched in 2006 when Roger Waters and The Who led the inaugural line-up. It then began its association with Hard Rock two years later.
