The Maccabees and The Vaccines have landed nominations in both the major categories for this year’s NME Awards, which will be held in London on February 27th.
The pair are up for Best British Band along with Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Biffy Clyro and The Cribs, while their respective LPs ‘Given To The Wild‘ and ‘…Come Of Age‘ will compete for the Best Album prize, as will Frank Ocean‘s ‘Channel Orange‘, Jake Bugg‘s self-titled debut, Alt-J‘s ‘An Awesome Wave‘ and ‘Lonerism‘ by Tame Impala.
Elsewhere, The Rolling Stones are nominated for Best Live Band after their short comeback tour towards the end of last year, while Noel Gallagher is again shortlisted for Best Solo Artist.
“The NME Awards is the highlight of the music calendar and the most Rock’n’roll party of the year, so it’s incredibly exciting to see such a wide range of artists nominated this time around,” NME editor Mike Williams has said.
