Adele picked up the major award for British Album at tonight’s Brit Awards, with ‘21‘ adding yet another accolade to its ever growing list of achievements.
Adele also came out on top in the British Female category, and elsewhere Coldplay beat the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Elbow and Kasabian to be named Best British Group. Foo Fighters were named Best International Group, and Ed Sheeran went home with two gongs.
The ceremony was opened by Coldplay, who performed beneath a huge circular lighting rig which was described as a ‘nightmare’ pre-show. Chris Martin was back onstage later to perform with Noel Gallagher, who aired the single ‘AKA…What a Life‘, while Adele, Florence & The Machine, Olly Murs, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and Outstanding Contribution winners Blur, who closed the show with a medley of classics, also played live.
