The Strokes have revealed for the first time the working title of their fourth studio album, and have also outlined the record’s likely first single.
The album will be called ‘Angles‘, the band told Rolling Stone, with guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. explaining that ‘…it’s what the record sounds like. It comes from five different people.”
The Strokes also released details of more tracks set to feature on the LP, naming ‘Taken For a Fool‘, ‘Life Is Simple‘, ‘Machu Picchu‘, ‘Radio Minor Madness‘ and ‘Call Me Back‘.
Originally planned for release some time last year, sessions for ‘Angles‘ have been dogged by delays, with only ‘Life Is Simple‘ surviving from their original work with producer Joe Chiccarelli. When those sessions broke down, the band instead decamped to Albert Hammond Jr’s own studios to complete the recordings.
Hammond Jr. told Rolling Stone they hope to ‘release albums quicker’ in the future, while guitarist Nick Valensi added: “I don’t want to make an album every five years. I love being in this band and I want it to be a career thing.”
The long-awaited record will be The Strokes’ first since ‘First Impressions Of Earth‘ was released in January 2006.
