Our recap of the stories we featured during the past seven days includes new UK tour dates for Johnny Marr and DMA’s.
Johnny Marr will gently ease out of pandemic restrictions with UK gigs at the Leeds Stylus, King George’s Hall in Blackburn and Electric Ballroom in London during September, building up to the outdoor, hometown appearance at Old Trafford cricket ground in support of The Courteeners.
The Smiths’ guitarist is also due to support The Killers’ North American arena tour as we all wait for news on a follow-up to Call The Comet – a Live4ever album of the year in 2018.
Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard have said Dusty Hill will be ‘great missed’ after the death of the ZZ Top bass player was confirmed last week.
The band’s representative revealed Hill died in his sleep at home in Texas, an announcement which was quickly followed by a statement from Gibbons and Beard.
The 30th anniversary of Primal Scream’s landmark album Screamadelica will be celebrated later this year with three special releases.
The influence of the late, great Andrew Weatherall on the LP’s ultimate direction is to be recognised with the inclusion of his previously unheard mix of Shine Like Stars in the 12” Singles Box collection, out on September 17th, which will offer nine replicas of contemporary singles.
DMA’s have added another six shows to their UK and Ireland tour which is coming up later this year.
It means the tour will now start at Greenock’s Town Hall on October 17th, with the two previously announced dates at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange coming up soon after.
Biffy Clyro are leading the new additions confirmed for Reading/Leeds 2021.
“We are delighted and honoured to be headlining Reading & Leeds for a third time, we cannot wait to get out there and play for you all again after such a tough year,” the band say as they come in to join other twin-stage headliners Liam Gallagher, Disclosure, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Post Malone and Stormzy.
The death of Slipknot founder member and drummer Joey Jordison has been announced by his family.
When releasing a statement last week, family members described Jordison as passing away ‘peacefully in his sleep’, but did not disclose a specific cause.
