The winner will be revealed next month, when Yard Act are due to release their debut album.
Yard Act and Wet Leg are among the artists placed on the BBC’s Sound Of list for 2022.
Both bands have highly anticipated debuts coming up next year, and will be hoping to start it by picking up the prize which has been won in the past by the likes of Adele, 50 Cent, Michael Kiwanuka and, most recently, Pa Salieu.
“The Sound Of list started in 2003 with the aim to showcase the most exciting rising stars in music,” a BBC statement reads. “19 years later, and the aim is the same – to continue predicting some of the biggest and most exciting global superstars.”
“The acts that appear on Sound Of are all hand-picked by a panel of impartial music industry experts from around the world and we can now reveal the long-list for 2022.”
