Bastille are planning a new album for later this year.

Bastille have shared their Distorted Light Beam single, co-written and co-produced with Ryan Tedder and long-time collaborator Mark Crew.

“For us Distorted Light Beam soundtracks dancing through some twisted, euphoric futuristic club space,” Dan Smith says.

“It’s a song about limitless possibilities – which isn’t something any of us actually have in real life right now, so it’s been fun to explore that idea while experimenting with new sounds in our music.”

Bastille have outdoor UK appearances coming up this summer at Standon Calling and the Hampton Court Palace Festival, and at Latitude Festival after that event’s organiser Melvin Benn recently confirmed they are pressing ahead despite some others, such as Kendal Calling and Truck, starting to once again fall by the wayside.

“It’s been a long week after the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday and while I was disappointed in the immediate aftermath of the statement,” Benn said.

“On reflection, I think it actually gives much more certainty of Latitude being able to happen than if he had loosened things on Monday because the country will have strangled the variant’s ability to spread to a greater degree through increased vaccination than if we had opened fully this coming Monday.”
