A 45-minute piece of original music entitled Memories Of The Age Of Anxiety has been shared by Arcade Fire.

It might prove to be the perfect antidote for the more impatient of their fans who are continuing to wait for some solid news on the band’s first studio album since 2017’s Everything Now.

Indeed, they spent a fair chunk of last year teasing a new record; Win Butler initially declaring on social media in April 2020 that ‘writing had intensified, and the work was flowing out’ as we all adjusted to life in lockdown.

He later told Rick Rubin’s Broken Record podcast that the band were going ‘back to Texas to make the next record’ before new material did emerge in the form of Generation A, performed on Showtime’s US election special hosted by Stephen Colbert.
