Ultra Mono from Idles has already been confirmed as the UK’s best selling album on vinyl last year.
Idles’ third album Ultra Mono has been revealed by the Official Charts Company as the best selling album at UK independent record shops last year.
“We’re Number 1 on the Official Record Store Chart 2020, which means that lots of people that did go out and buy the album did so supporting their local record store which is something that’s really important at the minute,” Mark Bowen says.
“If you’re going to buy a record, support independent local businesses, they need it as much as possible. Thanks to the fans, shout out to independent record stores. We’re top of the pops, Number 1 in the shops, a wop bop a loo bop a lop bam boom!”
The Top 20 list is full of brand new releases last year from the likes of Fontaines D.C., Yungblud, Sports Team and Phoebe Bridgers, but as ever David Bowie also continued to be a hugely popular artist at these stores, in 2020 thanks to I’m Only Dancing (The Soul Tour ’74) and Changesnowbowie.
The UK Record Store Chart has been documented regularly by Live4ever since its launch in 2012, the latest topped by You Me At Six.
