Idlewild had been planning to tour the UK this year to mark the anniversary.

Singer Roddy Woomble has written a book on the early history of Idlewild to mark his band’s significant 2020 milestone.

On social media, it’s been explained that In The Beginning There Were Answers‘ story will go back to their mid-nineties origins, charting the long slog to eventual commercial success upon the release of The Remote Part – complete with its hit singles You Held The World In Your Arms and American English – in 2002.

“We are delighted to share news of the book that we have been working on for the past few years – ‘In The Beginning There Were Answers – 25 years of Idlewild’, the Facebook post reads.

“Out in Feb 2021, the book is available to pre-order now including an exclusive download of the song ‘Losing Confusion’, which was recorded during the ‘Interview Music’ sessions in 2018.”

“Written by Roddy Woomble and with a foreword by Benjamin Myers, the 225 page book charts the story of the band from its formation in the autumn of 1995 in Edinburgh, through the early years of local gigs, onto recording and touring albums such as ‘100 Broken Windows’ and ‘The Remote Part’.”
