The Smashing Pumpkins have released their new album today, have a listen on New Music Friday.

The eleventh studio album from the Smashing Pumpkins is out after first being announced back in September, when Cyr had already been previewed with a new synth direction on its title-track and The Colour Of Love.

Billy Corgan was back in Chicago for recording sessions with James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, and the founding members’ longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder.

He described that Cyr single as, ‘dystopic folly, one soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time’. “To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.”

Other previews such as Confessions Of A Dopamine Addict and Wrath have since followed from the double album odyssey.
