The Flaming Lips held their first bubble concert a little earlier this year.

At the start of this year, the sight of a band and audience cocooned in their own bubbles would’ve seemed like a particularly dystopian episode of Black Mirror.

Alas, this being 2020, it’s glorious reality and one of the few ways anyone can hope to take in some live music right now.

Thus, The Flaming Lips‘ World’s First Space Bubble Concert, set for the Criterion in Oklahoma City on December 11th, has proved popular and will now be technically taking place a day earlier, with a second show announced for the same venue on December 10th.

Wayne Coyne showed off some footage from their inaugural bubble gig in the video he directed for the latest American Head single Assassins Of Youth.

“Of course, our MAIN priority was making sure everyone was safe and all the health cautions were being enforced,” Coyne said. “I forgot about how exciting and fun and ridiculous it is to do a Flaming Lips show! I think the video shows it!”
