Our editor’s pick of the week’s new tracks is Baby, Sleep after Maximo Park confirmed their seventh studio album for release on February 21st next year.
After starting all things Nature Always Wins off last month with Child Of The Flatlands, the band were back with its next single a few days ago, Paul Smith declaring himself, ‘so happy to be able to make this album during lockdown’. “As it’s been a challenging time for everyone,” he said.
“After almost four years since Risk To Exist, we wanted to explore new musical territory (for us) without sacrificing our trademark melodic twists and heartfelt lyrics. As always, the passing of time looms large, although the songs contain more affection for the past than before, and there are occasional hints of the fractious, divided time that we live in.”
