Public Enemy have made their return to Def Jam in time for the release of a new album later this year.

What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down will be the hip hop golden age legends’ first record with the label which started it all in over two decades when it’s released on September 25th.

A first taste comes from the 2020 remix of Fight The Power which was premiered at the BET Awards in June with guests Nas, Rapsody, Black Thought, YG, Jahi and Questlove.

“Cultural Institutions are important,” Chuck D says of the group’s return to Def Jam. “Being an integral part of one is an honor bestowed and to uphold. Public Enemy songs are forever sonic prints in the sands of time. And it’s time – it’s necessary – to bring the noise again from a place called home. Def Jam. Fight The Power 2020.”
