With other ventures falling by the wayside, Sam Fender is set to play the UK’s first large-scale socially distanced concert at Newcastle’s Gosforth Park on August 13th.

“Absolutely buzzing for this, getting the band and crew back together for probably our only gig of the year,” Fender says. “Apparently this is the first socially distanced show of its kind and it’s amazing to see the north east leading the way, it’s huge for the area. There’s a few hundred platforms with five people on each. Grab a few mates and let’s have a platform party! We’re going to play a couple of brand new tunes too.”

Dubbed the Virgin Money Unity Arena, Fender’s appearance will herald similar performances there from the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Supergrass and The Libertines through to September, after Miles Kane played one of the first notable music gigs in the UK on any scale for many months at Camden Market in London last weekend.
