The Wombats’ Matthew Murphy details Love Fame Tragedy debut album Wherever I Go, I Want To Leave

Love Fame Tragedy

Love Fame Tragedy – better known to indie dancefloorites as the lead singer of The Wombats – has detailed his debut album Wherever I Go, I Want To Leave.

Matthew Murphy has packed his first solo record full of collaborators; these including Joey Santiago, The Killers’ Mark Stoermer, Dan Smith, Eleanor Fletcher and alt-J’s Gus Unger-Hamilton. Recorded variously in Los Angeles, London and Sydney, it brings together select cuts from two previous EPs and seven brand new tracks. The single 5150 is streaming now.

“5150 refers to the California law code for individuals who present a danger to themselves or others due to signs of mental illness,” Murphy says. “In this case it refers more to how I occasionally feel a need to escape, regardless of the repercussions.”
