Classic Glastonbury sets from David Bowie and Jay Z will be aired by the BBC next month in lieu of this year’s event taking place.

With Glastonbury part of the curtailed UK summer festival season due to the coronavirus pandemic, the BBC has outlined its plans for Thursday, June 25th to Monday, June 29th, and has the first ever broadcast of David Bowie’s 2000 headline appearance in its entirety leading a revised schedule which is to air across BBC Two, BBC Four and BBC iPlayer.

“There are so many memorable sets being played across the BBC over what would have been our 50th anniversary weekend,”Emily Eavis says. “Personally, I’m looking forward to a weekend of reflecting on the history of our festival and going back to some classic performances from David Bowie, Adele, REM, Beyoncé, The Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Billie Eilish and lots more. Me and my dad will definitely be watching!”

Special programmes have also been arranged for BBC radio, including an appearance from Emily Eavis on Lauren Lavern’s 6 Music breakfast show on June 26th.
