New versions of Oh! Darling released from 50th anniversary edition of The Beatles’ Abbey Road

Abbey Road

The past few years have brought 50th anniversaries for some of The Beatles‘ classic albums. 2019 brings up 50 years of arguably the band’s magnus opus.

Abbey Road will be re-released on September 27th to mark the occasion, and more from the various treats which are set for inclusion on the reissue have been shared today in the form of a 2019 mix of Oh! Darling and a previously unheard ‘Take 4’ version featuring Hammond organ from Billy Preston.

The super deluxe box-set edition in total is to offer 40 tracks including demo versions, alternate takes and the ‘Trial Edit’ of the album’s classic Side 2 medley, entitled The Long One. “The magic comes from the hands playing the instruments, the blend of The Beatles’ voices, the beauty of the arrangements,” Giles Martin has said.

“Our quest is simply to ensure everything sounds as fresh and hits you as hard as it would have on the day it was recorded.”
