Cage The Elephant have been forced to cancel their forthcoming European tour after guitarist Nick Bockrath suffered a pretty horrific sounding leg injury at the Pinkpop Festival recently.

Despite the grizzly details – ruptured PCL, torn ACL, fractured tibia, damaged meniscus – Bockrath incredibly soldiered on through two later shows, but now quite sensibly has accepted the need for immediate surgery.

The UK leg of the tour had been due to start at Heaven in London tonight and would’ve included an appearance at the Isle Of Wight Festival this weekend as well as further headline shows in Edinburgh and Birmingham.

The details of this month’s affected dates in full are as follows:

12th June – Amsterdam, NLD at Melkweg Max
14th June – London, UK at Heaven
15th June – Isle of Wight, UK at Isle of Wight Festival
17th June – Edinburgh, UK at The Liquid Room
18th June – Birmingham, UK at O2 Institute2
20th June – Paris, FRA at Bataclan
