The Official Charts Company is predicting a ‘bright future’ for British music after revealing UK artists dominated its best selling albums of 2017.
Both Liam and Noel Gallagher made the Top 20, with the former’s debut solo LP As You Were the ninth best seller and the latter’s Who Built The Moon? at #19 despite its late release in November. If streaming is taken out of the equation, Liam jumps up to #7 and Noel to #14.
“Demand for music in the UK is growing fast, driven by brilliant British artists such as Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Rag‘n’Bone Man, Little Mix, Stormzy and Dua Lipa and the innovative music industry that supports them,” BPI chief executive Geoff Taylor reflects.
